The commonly used metal, rubber, glass, and detergent food related products for consumers include metal tableware, stainless steel insulated cups, rice cookers, non stick pans, children’s training bowls, silicone tableware, glasses, tableware detergents, etc. If these food related products are not used properly for a long time, it may lead to the migration of harmful substances into the food, causing food safety issues.
During this year’s National Food Safety Promotion Week, the State Administration for Market Regulation organized the preparation of 8 commonly used tips for the use and purchase of metal, rubber, glass, and detergent related food products, guiding consumers to make reasonable and scientific choices to prevent food related product safety risks.
Silicone tableware refers to kitchen utensils made of silicone rubber. It has the advantages of heat resistance, cold resistance, soft texture, easy cleaning, tear resistance, and good resilience. In the process of selection and use, in addition to being easy to stick to dust, it is also necessary to “look, pick, smell, and wipe”.
Firstly, look. Carefully read the product label identification, check if the content of the label identification is complete, whether there is marked material information, and whether it meets the national food safety standards. Secondly, pick. Choose products that are suitable for use, and pay attention to selecting products with flat, smooth surfaces, and no burrs or debris. Once again, smell. When choosing, you can use your nose to sniff and avoid choosing products with odors. Finally, wipe the surface of the product with a white tissue and do not choose products with discoloration.
The State Administration of Market Regulation reminds consumers that before use, they should clean according to the requirements of the product label or manual to ensure cleanliness. If necessary, they can be boiled in high temperature water for sterilization; When using, follow the requirements of the product label or instruction manual, and use it under specified usage conditions. Pay special attention to the safety instructions of the product, such as not directly touching open flames. When using silicone products in the oven, maintain a distance of 5-10cm from the heating tube to avoid direct contact with the walls of the oven; After use, clean with a soft cloth and neutral detergent, and keep dry. Do not use high-strength cleaning tools such as coarse cloth or steel wire balls, and do not use sharp tools to come into contact with silicone kitchenware.
